Next Saturday (10/19) is the 2013 Joe Pearlstein Bear Mountain MR2/Celica All-Trac Meet. This is the biggest annual MR2/AllTrac meet on the East Coast, possibly the country, with well over 100 cars in attendance. I haven't been since '09, but it is a fantastic meet and you should totally come! Here are some links for ya with details:
I'll be heading up from VA in a small 3-car group on Friday 10/18, so if anybody wants to hop in our caravan feel welcome! Here's a quote from one of the above threads if you can't see them:
The 2013 Joe Pearlstein Memorial Bear Mountain Meet will be hosted by the northeastmr2.com MR2 Club on Saturday, October 19th 2013.
The event was started in 1997 by Joe and Roxanne Pearlstein who gathered a handful of their friends to enjoy the fall foliage and their Toyota MR2s. Unfortunately, a little over year after the first meet, Joe was diagnosed with a serious medical condition and, passed away shortly thereafter.
The MR2 community was distraught over Joes loss and collectively decided to hold future Bear Mountain meets annually in memory of Joe. At the event, we sell t-shirts and conduct raffles with all the proceeds raised going to the American Cancer Society in Joe's memory. Today, the Bear Mountain Meet is the largest Toyota MR2 meet in the northeast.
Please note: This is an MR2 / Alltrac meet only. We cannot accommodate the sheer number of participants if more come. Please RSVP at northeastmr2.com or in the

FAQ:
What is the meet for?
The Joe Pearlstein Memorial Bear Mountain Meet is an event that was started by Joe Pearlstein in 1997 with a handful of MR2s. Since his passing, the event has become a memorial event to honor Joe. Joe was keen on spirited driving, enjoying the fall foliage, and photography.
Why should I come?
Because it is the largest MR2 meet in the Northeast. Expect to see over 100 MR2s!!!
What happens at the Joe Pearlstein Memorial Bear Mountain Meet?
The Bear Mountain meet is a mix of a car show and a scenic drive. We meet at the starting point near the NY/NJ border, then take a short drive through some very spirited back roads before taking a break for lunch as well as have a Show & Shine event that is judged by the owners! There is also a prize ceremony held after the judging has commenced. At this point, we take another scenic drive over some more spirited roads while making our way to the top of Bear Mountain. We will watch the sun set here and then head to our final destination for dinner back near the Sheraton Crossroads.
Who is invited?
Anyone who is in an MR2 or Celica AllTrac! All participants must be in an MR2 or Alltrac for the scenic drive portion of the event. Due to the anticipated turnout, we can not allow other platforms to join the groups. This will be STRICTLY enforced. With 100+ cars, it becomes very difficult to organize various platforms.
How much does it cost?
NOTHING! Not including the purchase price of your MR2 or Celica Alltrac.
What should I bring with me?
Bring a full tank of gas and a mechanically sound MR2 or AllTrac. We dont want any breakdowns so please make sure your vehicle is up to par. You will also need money for breakfast and lunch or you may bring food from home. You may also want to bring an FRS/GMRS two-way radio to be in contact with the other participants.
Please note that the Joe Pearlstein Memorial Bear Mountain Meet is conducted on public streets. All local traffic laws must be followed. The JPMBMM 2012 staff does not take responsibility nor is liable for any and all motor-vehicle incidences. This is a Rally, not a Race; please drive carefully.

I was invited to go to this meet in '10 by my friend, one of the organizers. I figured "why not", since the MR2 scene here in FL is kinda limited. Flew up, and was completely blown away. This isn't just a bunch of people standing around, staring at cars all day. It's an active meet, with an amazing, long cruise though mostly NY state (starts in NJ), in the height of the fall scenery, ending at the top of Bear Mountain. It's an awesome community that I wish I had the chance to meet and take part in before I moved from NJ to FL (got my MR2 a short time before that). Some quick pix from the '10 meet:

One of the best meets I've ever been too (if not the best). I've been flying up ever since for each year's meet, to check out the cars, go along for the ride and take pix, and hang out with friends. Hopefully by next year, my car will be reliable enough to make the 1000mi drive!

All I can say is that if you have a MR2 or Alltrac and are anywhere close you should go. I went last year and can't say enough about the group of people that I met up there. Really an amazing bunch of people, just wish my car was going to be done in time for the run this year.
